Challenges faced by Inpost

Challenges faced by Inpost

Amidst rapid growth, InPost required urgent help to build a new app in one of their markets. Since the existing app, serving Poland’s market, cannot be applied there due to different complexities in functionality and UX expectations — a new app that would enable communication with the customer had to be built from scratch, while ensuring it becomes the premise for the new global super app. Key challenges included:

1

Interdepartmental Coordination and Decision-Maker Engagement: InPost needed to develop a new app for the new market quickly, but lacked clear interdepartmental coordination.

2

Market Analysis and User Experience Customization: Adapting the app to the new market’s distinct complexities and user expectations.

3

Scope Management and Project Communication: With a larger vision of a pan-European superapp, managing feature priorities and stakeholder expectations was critical.

4

Deadline: 3 months launch to market.

Our role

deverium began the collaboration with InPost based on a recommendation, initially contracted to aid in mobile development to build a global mobile app. The assistance evolved into a very strategic partnership, which involves leading an urgent mobile development project for the new market and long term collaboration on building a company global superapp. deverium team assumed several new roles to help execute a unique project, which included leading the product development, interdepartmental coordination, shaping the tech team, coordinating thorough market analysis, prioritizing feature selection with subsequent projects in mind, planning of the project roadmap and pipeline, process development and testing, all while bridging the gap between decision makers and developers to ensure a smooth development process.

The solution

Despite several challenges that are expected in a very ambitious project, deverium demonstrated proactive problem-solving and leadership, taking charge of the project and ensuring successful delivery.

Holistic Coordination: deverium unified interdepartmental collaboration by creating a steering committee, ensuring smooth progress through seamless communication.

Market-Centric Adaptation: deverium navigated complex market analysis and tailored the app to the new market user expectations, enhancing its effectiveness.

Effective Execution: deverium managed stakeholder expectations, aligned project scope, bridged communication gaps, and optimized processes for a successful outcome. Feature Selection and Managing

Expectations: deverium had to align the project’s scope with the broader vision while ensuring the timely delivery of essential features for a new market, while prioritizing feature selection that would save time down the road when building the brand new SuperApp.

Process Development and Testing: Adapting the tech life cycle for international use and determining a suitable testing approach were key challenges. deverium had to find a way to implement proper processes without adversely affecting the larger project goals, ensuring a consistent and efficient development process.

The efforts to bridge gaps between departments, streamline processes, and shape the tech team contributed significantly to the project’s overall success.

“We began working with deverium specifically for their expertise in mobile app development. But as we discussed our partnership, they came through with more support that we originally envisioned, through their skills in testing automation, process optimization, and inclusive design.”
