On June 20-21, Europe’s leading tech event, The Next Web, will take place once again in Greater Amsterdam. Over 10,000 industry leaders and tech enthusiasts will come together to explore how technology will shape the future. Among them will be the CEO of deverium, Erika Maslauskaite, who will share her expert insights at the panel “Startup Founders and Policy: Bridging the Gap Between Technology and Government.”

Exploring Tech Policy for SMEs: Insights from Industry Leaders at TNW Talk

Over the past decade, technology regulation has been a prominent global concern and is expected to remain a key focus in the coming years. Policymakers often concentrate on regulating major corporations, frequently overlooking the effects new laws may have on SMEs and startups. However, SMEs could offer valuable perspectives on critical issues such as artificial intelligence, intellectual property, competition, and other areas. The panel “Startup Founders and Policy: Bridging the Gap Between Technology and Government” at the TNW (The Next Web) conference will bring together four industry experts to discuss these topics. Leading the panel is Chelsea Thomas, Executive Director of ACT | The App Association, of which deverium is a member. Chelsea brings a wealth of experience, having served on Apple’s federal government affairs team and holding leadership roles on Capitol Hill with the U.S. Senate for over a decade.

Joining Chelsea Thomas and Erika Maslauskaite on the panel are two additional distinguished speakers:

Donny Wals – A renowned author, speaker, and iOS engineer, Donny is well-known for his books on iOS development. He brings a practical perspective on the challenges and opportunities SMEs face in the tech industry.

Carlo Ferretti – The founder of 3DXR, Carlo is a researcher and public value designer. Since 2021, he has been affiliated with Metalab at Harvard, where he explores the intersection of technology, culture, and creativity.

The panel promises to deliver crucial insights into how tech policies affect small and medium-sized companies and how these businesses can navigate and influence the regulatory landscape.

The TNW Talk, "Startup Founders and Policy: Bridging the Gap Between Technology and Government," will take place on June 20th, 2024, at 2:20 PM at TNW Talks.

“This panel is an important opportunity to discuss the future of tech and policy. I look forward to an engaging discussion with these impressive panelists and contributing to the conversation on how technology and policy can work together to drive innovation,” says Erika Maslauskaite.
